A BRISTOL OPERATOR has paid £1,270 in fines and costs for illegally dumping rubble.
Bristol & Avon Transport and Skip Hire of Horfield, Bristol pleaded guilty to depositing controlled waste on land not covered by a waste management licence.
Bath magistrates heard that on 9 October 2003 an Environment Agency officer discovered that waste was being illegally deposited on land at Avon Valley County Park.
Material from the Windsor Villas construction site was being taken to Pixash Lane — this was confirmed by three waste transfer notes.
The waste was being used to construct a car park at the site but checks revealed the site was not licensed to receive the waste.
The main contractors on the job were informed and immediately contacted Bristol & Avon Transport and Skip Hire, telling it to stop dumping the waste until further notice.
