Leading the way in the slashing of delivery times is DPD. which has invested E2m in IT and telematics systems since February in order to achieve a one-hour delivery slot for customers. Some 1,500 traders have signed up the service, including electronics retailer Currys and mobile phone firm 3. Retailers are charged 10p for every text DPD sends to a home-delivery customer. The text message or email gives clients a precise one-hour window in which a driver is guaranteed to arrive.
