CLIPPER LOGISTICS has taken on e-fulfilment clothing operations for John Lewis at a distribution centre in 011erton, near Newark, Notts.
The contract was awarded after strong growth in online fashion sales at the retailer created a need for more capacity. Products will be distributed from the 500,000ft2 shared-user facility by a number of parcels carriers each load is allocated by an IT system that takes into account size, weight and geography.
Clipper MD Tony Mannix says: "We already had expertise in clothing e-fulfilment with clients such as Tesco and George at Asda and were able to cope
with dramatic rates of growth."
The 011erton warehouse was previously used to serve Woolworths, but is now a specialist distribution centre, known in the Clipper business as an 'internet centre of excellence'.
