BRITISH RAIL has broken into the groupage market by launching a distribution link between Oxfordshire and Glasgow.
Its Speedlink Distribution link between the Milton Freight Terminal in Oxfordshire and Deanside Transit's Glasgow area raillinked warehouse takes BR further into the domain of the road haulier.
According to Milton Terminal's managing director, George Clarke, the move further strengthens his business's rail potential. "This latest development gives us access to more potential customers, which can only be good for the future of the terminal and Speedlink Distribution."
Speedlink Distribution was launched in May last year to give the overnight rail freight business a share of the distribution market, as it links fast rail transport with private distribution companies' local road delivery systems.
Speedlink can handle palletised and non-palletised freight.
