ASSOCIATED Minibus Operators (Amos) could end up running double deckers in London, director Anthony Shephard hinted last week.
Amos is still awaiting a decision from Transport Secretary Nicholas Ridley on the plan to operate 400 minibuses on four cross-London routes on a franchise basis, but there are indications that it could be asked to settle for less than the full scheme, even though Mr Shephard says that a single route would not be viable.
He said last weekend that he did not know what impact the scheme would have, but one of the benefits would be that some data would be obtained.
"I want to see the impact of Amos for a year to decide whether I need to buy more 16seaters, 24-seaters, or whether it should be double-deckers after all," he added.
