A WEEK OR SO ago you had a letter from an agency driver who refused to go on the road in a defective vehicle. To safeguard their HGV licences agency drivers must use a proper daily vehicle check and defect book like the Tachodisc 2002/T20.
After going round the vehicle this driver should have given the traffic office the second filled out copy from his defect book including not only the date and mileage but also the time.
He said in his letter that the firm in question does not want him to drive for them again. He should just ring up VOSA at the Goods Vehicle Test Station and have a chat with them. If he would not take out this vehicle due to faults, what's the rest of the fleet like?
By doing this he would be helping all his mates to a safer life on the road. Remember, the chaps in the VOSA vans are there to help us live safe lives.
