Recalls play an important safety function, but op erators do need to keep their ears open.
It's always worth checking the VOSA website for any recalls just incase it's your vehicle that gets caught short. Manufacturers can only recall vehicles when their whereabouts are known; since 1 January 2005 there have been just four recalls involving CVs.
Volvo Trucks has a recall on its FM,FH and early FH16 models, while Nissan's Cabstar E also has a fault. The only others listed on the VOSA website (www.vosa.gov.uk) belong to VWs new Caddy. Of the models listed only the Nissan Cabstar E would be widely available on the open used market but the others are worth noting for future reference. If you buy one of these vehicles on the used market it's best to check the recall has been done.
