The Milton Keynes recruiter has diversified, rationalised and rebranded with a smaller team but a higher turnover.
OPTIMUM RECRUITMENT has changed its name to Optimum Nationwide. The Milton Keynesbased road transport recruitment specialist has also diversified its services since Commercial Motor's last visit in 2006.
"We used to be just a driver agency," according to operations manager Andy Keppell. Now we also deal with industrial staff— people like pickers and packers, and data-entry clerks."
Last year: nearly all of
Optimum's work was involved with truck and van drivers—the driver/industrial worker balance is currently split in a 80/20 ratio.
The firm has also performed something of a rationalisation programme: It has

its turnover. "We've cut back dramatically, but we're a lot more efficient," Keppell explains. "We've tightened up Job roles and taken a more focused approach to sales."
Optimum Nationwide has also begun what Kepoell calls "satellite' recruitment operations. Here, a recruitment specialist spends time within a transport company and is given the task of taking on new staff, before moving onto another customer.
