JUNIOR TRANSPORT Minister David Mitchell has told management at Metro-CammellWeymann in Birmingham that the provisions of the Buses White Paper herald a new era for bus travellers.
He predicts that most services will not only continue but the standard of service will improve and fares will be reduced.
He also thinks new services will evolve to meet the needs of the community more effectively and this success in halting the decline of bus services can only be good for bus manufacturers.
The taxpayer and ratepayer will also benefit from getting better value for money and there will be scope for innovation and new types of service.
Mr Mitchell has also said that additional resources would be available to help rural bus services and that concessionary fares schemes would continue on an equitable basis with all bus operators participating.
