CHRISTMAS will soon be here and the first 1985 annual has arrived in the CM offices.
Gavin Booth's Buses Annual 1985 (Ian Allan, £4.95) contains a wealth of photographs in 128 pages (10 of which are in colour), and includes a wide range of features.
It covers subjects as diverse as a pictorial record of Victoria coach station from 1934-58; an intriging comparison of bus bodies to women's skirts (high or low according to the fashion of the day); a brief study of the influence of Saunders Roe; 70 years of Southdown; and, an architectural guide to doubledeck bodies. There is also a piece on the post-1980 bus industry by CM's news editor, Alan Millar.
Printed on good-quality cartridge paper in a small format, the book is good value at less than a fiver.
