HAULIER Dunns of Shildon, in County Durham, has gone into administration following the collapse of a major customer.
Dunns has ceased trading and 30 of its 34 staff have already been made redundant, according to Gordon Goldie of administrator Tait Walker, Goldie reports that the closure of a business that owed Dunns lot of money" made it impossible for the haulier to continue. Dunns' assets are now being sold to pay off its creditors. its understood that the customer whose difficulties caused knock-on problems for Dunns was car components firm Vicker Pressings Tolwood Automotive (VPTA), based in nearby Newton Aycliffe. It went into administration last month.
Goldie adds: -This sort of problem is becoming endemic and one has to wonder where the transport industry in this country is heading."
Dunns started over 80 years ago, distributing coal by horse and cart.
