Burke believes there aren't enough truckstops, and it is in nobody's best interests to have lorries pulling off to the side of the road at night. "Sometimes, drivers are having to park in places that are dangerous both in terms of traffic and the risk of robbery," he says. "There's no doubt lorry drivers are hard done by compared with airline pilots or train drivers."
