• As CM went to press. Chris Cain, the Liverpool haulier who inspired hundreds of colleagues to protest against crippling fuel prices, was due to appear before magistrates in the city charged with obstructing Queen's Drive, Liverpool during a TransAction protest on 9 April.
Cain, of TR Group Holdings, was the first haulier to take direct action against fuel duty increases. He blocked a busy London street soon after this year's Budget (CM 26 March-1 April). His calls for hauliers to join him led to the creation of the Trans-Action protest group.
