• Somerset-based Autologic Holdings has acquired French vehicle logistics company Remorquage Automobile Depenage, in a deal worth just under El m.
• Dagenham Motors Group has announced rises in turnover and profit for the six months ending 30 June 1998. Turnover was up 11.6% to £162 million, and pre-tax profit increased by 7.4% to E3.04 million.

• Shenstone Parish Council has called for weight restrictions b be placed on narrow village roads near the 4452 Chester Road in the Midlands. Residents complained when heavy lorries used the roads to avoid congestion on nearby A-roads.
• Five people, including two children, were killed on Monday 14 September when a truck collided with a school bus in Co Wicklow. The lorry driver, from Northern Ireland, faces charges of causing death by dangerous driving.
