Vos to cut 345 jobs in response to recession
DUTCH OPERATOR Von Logistics is to cut 345 jobs across Europe and not renew the contracts of temporary staff following a dramatic drop in revenues across parts of its operation.
The Continental hauler had hoped to reduce working hours for staff in the Netherlands, but this was rejected by the Ministry of Social Affairs.
Instead, twill make 145 staff in the Netherlands and 200 across the rest of Europe redundant mainly in Poland, France and Hungary as well as not renew temporary contracts.
CEO Frank Verhoeven reveals that the measures are in response to the recession. "We had already streamlined the organisation in Poland and reduced the group's fleet to 1,700 vehicles." he adds.
Verhoeven also says that any additional capacity will be covered by subcontractors.
