To put things into perspective, the difference between the highest and lowest scores was only 0.6%. Each truck had its strong points, yet, ultimately, the Mercedes-Benz won due to its superior fuel economy.
But what this test has shown is that any operator can find a truck that meets its needs. if the focus is on fuel economy, the Merc might be chosen. it, however, the operator wants to give his drivers the best driving experience, it might go for the Scania. But then again, the Daf and MAN would also be perfectly good choices.
No truck really slipped up here. If anything, with such a close result, the manufacturers have shown how high their standards really are.
If all of them attend to the few remaining niggles, next year's test might be decided by only fractions of points.
