In April 2009, the law governing under-run bars changes. This will affect cantilever-style lifts, many of which are supplied with integral under-run bars.
Under current legislation, the corners of the bar have to withstand an impact equivalent to 12.5% of the GVW of the vehicle. That will double in April to 25%. Some manufacturers, including Bar, have already introduced modified under-run bars to comply with the new requirements.
