• The prospect of higher rates for Eurotunnel's freight shuttle service was raised last week when the company refused to rule out further rises.
Despite the recent £30 oneway and across-the-board increase for haulers, crossChannel rates remain at the levels achieved in the mid-1990s, according to Bill MacKenzie, Euretunners director of freight.
MacKenzie refused to discuss the division's financial performance during a presentation he was making of plaques to two customers Hertfordshire-based Star Cargo and French oper ator Transports La Mouetteto mark two million trucks using the service since its opening in 1994.
