How about this for a chain of events: Volvo Truck and Bus sales director David Smith buys a mountain bike at a charity auction. Later he puts it up as a raffle prize at a meeting of the company's Distribution Association. The money raised is matched by Volvo at Warwick and donated to nearby Ridgeway School so it can buy I8,000-worth of computer equipment to get its information and computer technology programme running. Ten workstations have been installed at the special school which has around 90 pupils aged between two and 19 attending. David Smith visited Ridgeway to present head teacher Patricia Flynn with the cheque. They are pictured here with pupils (from left) Philip Crosling, Mary Herlihy and Joshua Pugh, all aged nine.
