TNT Express staff mount legal campaign
TNT EXPRESS Services UK is embroiled in a dispute with staff at two sites over the removal of bonus payments from contracts.
Linder Myers Solicitors will represent 15 of the 440 affected staff at an employment tribunal following TNT's decision to remove bonuses from its 2009 contracts for central hub workers at its Atherstone. Warwickshire and Kingsbury. London hubs.
The bonus payment was previously given to staff as a reward for finishing work ahead of schedule. However, the firm says the recession made it necessary to withdraw cash perks. Some staff arc claiming that this means their wages will be reduced dramatically.
However, CM understands all affected employees were given £3,000 to compensate for the bonus cuts, and there were no redundancies during 2009 at the express business.
"Since the necessary formal procedures are now active for a tribunal hearing later this year, it would be inappropriate to make any further comment," a TNT spokesman adds.
