Redburn increases fLeet to meet Euro emissions levels
MUSIC TRANSPORT company Redbum Transfer has expanded its fleet with 11 new trucks and trailers to cope with more work and to meet strict emissions levels across the Continent.
The Middlesex-based company has bought five Volvo FH12 460 Globetrotters, five Krone Mega Dry Liner box vans and a DAF CF65 18-tonne box van rigid.
Managing director Chris Redbum says: "The vehicles do low mileage, approximately 45.000km to 50,000km a year. We used to keep them for seven or eight years, but with the emissions levels on the Continent, we will probably have to replace them in four or five years.
"We go for full specification vehicles, with microwaves, fridges and swivel passenger chairs for maximum comfort for the driver."
The Krone trailers adhere to 4m height restrictions to meet bridge heights across the Continent, and to maximise internal space to 100m3 with a straight-frame chassis, they need to run on 295/60 R22.5 super-single wheels and tyres, as do the tractor units.
