• Allowing big hungry guard dogs to roam your premises late at night may be appealing, but it's ill advised, says Maurice Parsons, general secretary of the Association of Security Consultants.

The risk, however remote, that somebody will be bitten—and sue—may explain why so many security companies have moved away from providing dog patrols in recent years. "Customers don't ask for them so much these days. probably because they're worried that they'll be sued along with the security firm if an alsatian nips somebody," says one security specialist.
