OVERALL production in the UK of commercial vehicles, including coaches and buses, took a nose dive during May. Figures published by the SMMT show that output was more than 1,200 vehicles a week down on the same period in 1974.
Only the "big two" manufacturers, Ford and British Leyland —who between them control almost threequartens of the UK production—stepped up the number of commercials rolling off their lines.
