TWENTY pallets holding 18.2 tonnes (18 tons) of automotive components, brake shoes, radiators, etc, can be carried in a two-tiered trailer outfit built for Serck Services by North Midland Truck Engineering Ltd, Halfway.
The trailer specification includes a Ratcliff double-tier tail-lift with extended platform which doubles as the rear door, double-hinged side doors with flush-fitting locks and interior electric lighting. Loading can take place from both sides of the vehicle at the same time using fork-lift trucks; the pallets are then transferred to the front of the vehicle by hand-operated loader. Using this system a full load can be taken on and stacked for transport in 10 minutes, which shows a substantial time saving over conventional loading methods.
