• Port Talbot District Council has set up a hotline to log reports of smoking trucks — but only two complaints have been received in the past month.
The idea for the hotline came from the Brighton-based National Society for Clean Air. When the Department of Transport declined to help set it up Port Talbot decided to go ahead on its own. "We felt some action should be taken," says council health officer Graham Gubb.
