• Hauliers will not after all be charged for lorry ban maps issued by the London Boroughs Transport Committee (CM 11-17 July). "We will continue to give out free maps as a service to operators on first applications and whenever the map is up-dated," says the LBTC. If bulk orders are made so that every driver in a fleet can have a guide (drivers as well as employers can be prosecuted for contravening bans) then the LBTC says it will levy a "nominal charge" to cover administration and postage — the maps themselves will be free.
LI This year there has been a massive increase in the number of drivers caught flouting the London Lorry Ban. Last year the LBTC stopped 318 vehicles, resulting in 60 possible prosecutions. So far this year already the LBTC has stopped 648 vehicles, which could lead to almost 200 prosecutions.
