• The Transport Users Group, which caters for small hauliers, has urged the receiver of collapsed clearing house Transworld to make an interim payment to haulage creditors.
Receiver Sorsky has been collecting Transworld's debts since the firm went under owing more than Thn to 1,000 companies, many of them small transport firms (CM 30 May-5 June). Robert Sutton of the TUG says that a payment of "a few hundred pounds" to creditors could save a home or a vehicle.
O The TUG has recruited 34 members this month. It has secured discounts on tyres and windscreens and hopes to offer money off TIP trailer rentals.
