Wolfe is fighting for survival after a Wiltshire freight forwarder went under without paying it for several Continental loads.
Euro Forwarding of Corsham owed Wolfe £7,000 for haulage work commissioned in February, March and April. But, despite repeated letters and the use of a debt-collection agency, not a penny was paid. "Now Euro Forwarding has gone into liquidation," says Anne Wolfe. "We had an uneasy feeling about the company, but our regular work dropped off so badly in February we had to take the chance."
Wolfe believes her company will survive the loss but, for a time, "it wasn't looking good for us", she says.
Appointed insolvency practi tioner Sue Stockley of 3 iP says the major reason for Euro Forwarding's liquidation was L75,000-worth of bad debts. She estimates that there are 14 hauliers among the 35 creditors, and she does not expect anyone to recoup their losses.
