I would like to add to the answer you gave to the 19-year-old provisional heavy goods vehicle driving licence holder in your Questions and Answers (CM February 25).
The national Joint Training Committee operates the Young HGV Driver Training Scheme to provide training for aspiring heavy goods vehicle drivers between the ages of 16 and 20. The questioner is probably getting a little near the top age limit of the scheme, but providing he is able to find an employer who is willing to give him the training he requires, and who is registered with the National Joint Training Committee, he could obtain an HGV Class 3 licence.
Further details can be obtained by writing to the Secretary of the National Joint Training Committee, Capitol House, Empire Way, Wembley.
