Edward Allsop 'embarrassed' about £20,000 freight theft

EDWARD ALLSOP Transport says that it is embarrassed at having to explain a £20,000 theft to a client.
A driver for the Melton Mowbray. Leicestershire-based haulier had 17 pallets of body spray, car fresheners and sunglasses stolen from his truck while he slept in a lay-by on the Al at North Witham. Lines.
Speaking about the incident, Carl Underwood, Edward Allsop MD, adds: "We are still waiting for the complete cargo value, but I would estimate it's around £20,000. Having to tell our client was embarrassing."
Underwood adds that the firm hasn't suffered any thefts for "a long time'," but has had lorry curtains slashed on several occasions by opportunist thieves.
"Even if you park in a truckstop. there are still going to he thieves: if these robbers want something they are going to get it. Freight crime is an ongoing problem for our industry," Underwood continues.
The incident took place between opm on Thursday 11 March and harn the following morning.
