DRINKS WhOLESALER WaverleyTBS is to axe a number of logistics jobs as part of a restructure plan that involves the closure of several of its depots.
The company is proposing to close its Newbury, Berkshire and Park Royal, London sites, which employ 87 people collectively. Waverley also plans to close nine other depots and replace them with 10 transit points that will employ fewer staff.
WaverleyTBS MD Jonathan Townsend says: "It is well documented the drinks sector continues to face considerable challenges. Our business has to evolve to remain sustainable and competitive."
The company has entered a consultation period with 200 drivers, warehouse workers and telesales employees over its plans to restructure the business.
The plans also involve reducing its truck fleet.
The consultation period is expected to finish by the end of March.
