LEYLAND has notified its dealers to recall about 700 Roadrunner models which are fitted with power assisted steering for the immediate replacement of the steering box support bracket (shown above).
The original instruction called for crack testing and the replacement of defective brackets, but because this was less cost effective Leyland instructed its dealers to fit a replacement part irrespective.
In accordance with the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders Codes of Practice Leyland has notified the Department of Transport of the details. Dealers have also been advised to check the serviceability of the secondary lock-down mechanism on the cab tilt device.
Some have been found to have seized, leaving the cab in the unlatched position.
The Roadrunner has been on general sale since October last year.
