• Volkswagen is edging closer to its goal of becoming a major European truck builder by taking a more active role in the management of Scania.
Three big players from Volkswagen—Dr Ferdinand Plech, Lothar Sander and Detlef Wittig—will be proposed as board members at Scania's AGM next Wednesday, The German manufacturer bought a £1bn worth of Scania shares from Investor after the merger with Volvo was blocked by the European Union's Competition Commission.
VW now holds 34% of Scania's voting rights and 18.7% of its capital.
