VOLVO TRUCKS believes it will secure orders for 100 of its newly-launched FMX tippers in the UK by the end of 2010, according to UK MD Goran Nyberg.
The FMX, marketed as a heavy-duty tipper for construction, was launched in March in the face of a deep downturn in the construction sector.
Nyberg says: "We feel that's a good number for us, being so [ate in the year. We had a good launch of the FMX: the timing for its introduction is good because we expect the construction sector to come back this year" The UK's first FMXs will be delivered before the end of this year, he predicts, and adds that the vehicle has prompted a number of customers in the sector to buy Volvo for the first time. "The new FMX stands out a bit, which I think attracts people who want to show they are looking to the future."
