A NORTH WALES council has rejected an application for an overnight truck park with space for 20 HGVs.

Flintshire County Council's planning committee last week refused the application from a P Davies for a facility at Park View Garage. Crossways Road on brownfield land next to junction 31 of the A55 in Caerwys.
Councillors said they were concerned about the facility's visual impact and proximity to the countryside. A separate application to the council to build a truckstop on land north-east of Crossways Road at Pen y Cefn, from Dai Owen,owner ofJD Owen Transport, based in Mold. Clwyd, is expected to be considered in December.
The proposals from Owen include space for 60 HGVs, as well as rest areas, washing and refuelling facilities, a cafe and storage area Supporters of the applications say there is a need for a modern, secure truckstop in North Wales to cater for drivers who use the port of Holyhead.
