• Bendix, the Bristol-based brake manufacturer, has bought Anti-Skid Controls for an undisclosed sum.
ASC went into receivership last month after sales of its CRM Maxarot electronic antilock braking system for heavy vehicles fell short of expectations.
Bendix plans to operate Coventry-based ASC under the Bendix name. A spokesman says the eight former ASC employees will be offered employment at ASC's Coventry manufacturing and installation centre. Bendix will offer Category II and III antiskid systems for powered units and a low cost axle system for the trailer market.
POSITIVE
A spokesman for Bendix says, "We regard the acquisition of the business of AntiSkid Controls as a positive development in expanding our business.
"While being closely allied to both our existing expertise and the markets we serve, the anti-skid products offer us positive opportunities for expansion in the electronics sector of the truck and trailer industry."
Bendix is showing the full range of ASC products, which it will now be offering under the Bendix name, at the NEC Motor Show.
