I Bridgewatch is a new device which arns a driver of low bridges ahead. ne system is based on a small in-cab nit which combines a GPS satellite icator with a database of bridge eights and locations, updated at egular intervals via a PC link.
The height of the vehicle is intered into the system and when it letects a low bridge ahead a visual and audible alarm is activated—this can be linked to external devices, to mute the radio volume, for instance.
A display shows the distance, bearing and road number of the nearest low bridge. The Bridgewatch unit is leased to customers for 24 a week (payable every six months) with an initial cost of 2240.
