PRESTON Borough Transport has reported that despite the recession and a forecast deficit, its bus fleet returned a surplus of E28,783 for the year up to March 31.
The 90-vehicle municipal bus fleet suffered a small reduction in passenger journeys (-2,9 per cent) but through good housekeeping turned a 1980-1 deficit of £52,990 to a surplus in 1981-82. The transport undertaking does not receive any revenue support and relies 100 per cent on fare-box revenue.
