ANYONE WHO has wondered how far the faithful old Cummins B-Series, now ISB, engine can be developed has just seen the answer in London.
The Defence Systems and Equipment International exhibition in London's Docklands last week saw the unveiling of a 500hp version developed in conjunction with Shoreham's Ricardo. The had news, though,if you fancy one in your Daf 45,is that it doesn't meet any emissions regulations, as it's only intended for military applications. Specifically, it is designed to operate at high efficiency in a narrow rev band to power hybrid drivelines. Central to the engine's design brief are its compact dimensions, allowing it to fit within a 312-litre box.
