One Spanish company has turned debt collection into a theatrical but effective performance by sending debt collectors out in top hat and tails.
The company even calls itself El Cobrador del Frac (The debt collector in top hat and tails'), and has garnered a good deal of publicity for its company "uniform", which is worn in order to embarrass the debtor into paying up.
Few people want to be faced by the infamous morning-suited collectors, and those that are pay up more quickly. Until they do pay up, the collectors keep visiting them and follow them around to maximise their discomfort.
