THE railways had wasted the court's time by persisting in an objection which they could easily have discussed with the applicants, Maj. F. S. Eastwood, chairman of the Yorkshire Traffic Commissioners, said at Leeds on Monday. British Railways withdrew their objection to an application by Messrs. W. Drake and Son, Cleckheaton, for a new picking-up point at Low Moor, after being told that. only four of the applicants' excursions were involved.
Mr. T. B. Atkinson, for BR., pointed out that they ran summer excursions from Low Moor to Blackpool and Southport, and from the wording of the application it appeared that Drake wanted to pick up there on all their 23 excursions, which included these resorts.
The application, and six additional destinations which Were not objected to. was granted.
