WINCANTON wants customers to share distribution centres in a bid to cut congestion and emissions.
The haulier has launched a project to encourage collaboration between retailers and manufacturers with shared depots that should minimise empty running.
Wincanton's operations controller, David Hall, says: "Duplication by transport networks results in thousands of empty vehicle movements every day, when it is possible to reduce these journeys while simultaneously offering cost-saving benefits to customers."
