• An operator "badly let down" by his maintenance contractor has had his twovehicle licence renewed for one year only following a series of prohibitions.
North Eastern and Eastern Deputy Traffic Commissioner Brian Horner warned Kenneth Wal that if maintenance standards had not improved by the end of the year his licence might not be renewed.
Wal, who trades as Barclay Tyre and Casing Services of Oadby, did his best to to keep his vehicle properly maintained, said Horner—but is still ultimately responsible for the vehicle.
DOT vehicle examiner Michael Faulkner said three prohibitions were issued to the vehicle in possession. The last prohibition was issued just over two weeks after a safety inspection.
There was no way the condition of the vehicle should have deteriorated so much—the inspections themselves must be lacking in quality.
17Val said that his maintenance was undertaken by a dealer. He was caught in the middle as his contractors told him that they did not have any problems with any other operator. He had confronted them with the prohibitions and they could not believe it.
