• The Bus & Coach Council warns operators that the proposed EC directive to reduce coach speeds to 62mph would jeopardise long-distance coach travel.
This week EC transport ministers are considering the proposal to reduce Britain's current 70mph limit, which the BCC says "would undermine the position of coach travel in competing with British Rail in the run-up to a possible privatisation programme."
