• Any suggestion of "free" travel on London's buses and Underground trains has been rejected by the works committee of the London Boroughs Association. Such a step would put an extra 20p on the rates, which the committee describes as "totally unacceptable".
It has also rejected the suggestion of free travel in a restricted inner area, which would add 10p to the rates throughout the capital. Both schemes were put forward for discussion in the GLC's Green Paper on London Transport published last year (CM October 23 1970).
