BASED on a Thames 4D oil-engincd chassis having a drop-well extension at the rear, a 1,000-cu.-ft. Lutontype van supplied to Townsends (Carriers), Ltd., Rushden, by Westonia Garage, Ltd., Weston Favell, Northampton, incorporates several special features to facilitate loading.
Fitted with a translucent plastics roof, the body by W. Marshall and Sons, St. George's Street, Northampton, has a double tailboard, permitting two heights of loading, and a removable top flap which can be held open by means of stay rods.
Attached to the body sides above the rear well are two drop-flaps which may be lowered to rest on a centre trestle, thus giVing. a completely level floor for easy loading from dispatch hays. Subsequent raising of the flaps and removal of the trestle leave the rear end clear for loading to full capacity.
