• Following the lead of the Road Transport Industry Training Board other Boards have intimated that they are prepared to recognize the Lorry Driver of the Year competition as a training facility which may qualify for grant aid.
Operators who have entered the competition and who pay a levy should make claim in accordance with their own grant schemes. Boards prepared to pay grants are: Wool Jute and Flax, Iron and Steel, Water Supply, Hotel and Catering, Engineering, Knitting, Lace and Net, Carpet, Ceramics, Glass and Mineral Products, Furniture and Timber. In addition, the Construction Industry and the Chemical and Allied Products Industry Boards are considering including the competition in their grant schemes for 1968/69.
The final of the LDOY competition which takes place at Bramcote on September 8 should prove to be an attraction for all age groups. There will be a number of side events and exhibits provided by the manufacturing industry and road safety organizations as well as a menu contest for the ladies which will be judged by Ruth Morgan of the .magazine Woman.
