WHILE self-criticism is essential, negative criticism does no good at all, according the Transport Minister.
Speaking last week in Cheshire at the opening of ER F's engineering centre, he said that "It is•becoming fashionable theser days to knock British industry. Of course there are things to criticise, we often pay• ourselves more than we can afford, we need to have a better overall level of performance, and we must make consumers at home and abroad want to buy our products.
The Minister said that knocking criticism did harm because it made people lose heart when the going was rough.
He did not need to be convinced that Britain had products, skills and expertise which other countries envied.
