MAY I inquire whether any of your older readers could enlighten me with certain details relevant to the enclosed photograph.
The vehicle in question is a 1934-registered Mercedes diesel,: and was one of several operated by Messrs McNamara in the mid to late Thirties on long-distance work.
Mercedes-Benz have been unable to identify the exact model, and I feel this is partially due to the fact that NcNamara modified many of its fleet to suit its own individual requirements. Is it possible that this was a much lighter model in original form, and has since been fitted with ten stud wheels and tandem axle trailer thereby putting it in the 12 to 14 ton carrying class?
Incidentally, the tilt framed semi-trailer is worthy of note (a McNamara product I believe), as they are now again all the vogue. C. R. SALAMAN 3 Pounsbridge Cottage Penhurst Tonbridge, Kent
