• Mayor Ken Livingstone's 10-year London transport strategy says freight has occupied something of a `Cinderella' position in previous transport policies. It promises that requirements for loading and unloading vehicles will be given priority and the 16 year-old London Lorry Ban will be reviewed. "The original noise criteria need to be reassessed in the light of changing vehicle technologies. Quieter technologies mean that goods vehicles may be more acceptable in more circumstances." Other measures to be considered by a new London Sustainable Distribution Partnership include improving overnight parking facilities and setting up staging depots to allow consolidation of deliveries to town and city centres.
